Theatre
Education Association of Cyprus (T.E.A.) is a Non – Governmental Organization.
It was established in order to enable the implementation of the notion Theatre
for All, as part of Theatre Education For All policy in the frames of social
action and social change.
T.E.A.
’s mission is the promotion of theatre and drama techniques in an interactive
workshop format as part of an on-going human education.
In
its pursuit of this mission T.E.A. Cyprus:

promotes theatre as a tool addressing social
issues and text-based workshops for all ages |

promotes the introduction of drama/theatre in the
National Curriculum |
|
promotes the establishment of Education Department
in theatres, museums, galleries using theatre as a tool in the frames of an
educational policy |
|
promotes and encourages research relevant to its
mission |
|
includes activities of local publications and
European projects |
|
organizes seminars and meetings with drama/theatre
educators, observers with specific theatre interest and theatre
practitioners |
T.E.A.
Cyprus addresses to a wide spectrum of recipients (from 3 to 103 years old) both
on a community and educational level. Its specific concern is focusing on gender
and youth sensitivity issues. By
empowering social action on all levels and ages, T.E.A. Cyprus promotes social
change in an all -inclusive
society.
Establishing
theatre as an art form and theatre as a tool is T.E.A. ’s main priority.
Moreover it provides a vehicle for cultural diversity and respect for Human
Rights.
This
is accomplished by structured interactive drama/theatre workshops format either
in the frames of a long-term project planning strategy or in the frames of
specific short-term sessions.
Moreover
evaluation is an important tool for T.E.A Cyprus in order to systematically
adjust to the participants’ and society’s needs for change. Change in terms
of acquiring the citizenship, which is needed for human development in a world
of acceptance, this is T.E.A.’s Cyprus main concern.
