New website: A brand new website for the European Parliament

The European Parliament is launching a completely new website designed to provide quicker and easier public access to information on the political decisions taken by the elected representatives of Europe's citizens. Replacing the old website, which was essentially a collection of databases, the new site is a dynamic and attractive information tool presenting continuously updated news on Parliament in a colourful, easy-to-read format in 20 languages.

Funding: DAN DAVID PRIZE to candidates who promote human rights

The Dan David Prize annually awards three prizes of US$ 1 million each for
achievements having an outstanding scientific, technological, cultural or
social impact on the world. In 2006, one of the prizes will be awarded to a
journalist working in print media who has contributed to the field of
journalism as a whole and has had a significant impact on today's society.
Special attention will be paid to candidates who promote human rights,
democracy and pluralism; encourage freedom of political and cultural
expression; oppose discrimination of any kind; condemn the use of media as
propaganda or to promote intolerance and conflict; and act as catalysts for
positive change.
The deadline for submitting nominations is 30 November 2005.
