Ecology and Environmental Education Summer Schools for high school students (15–17 years) 21-27 JULY 2007

The Cyprus Environmental Studies Centre, (ESC) in Kritou Terra, Paphos is offering a 6-day residential educational programme for high school students from the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities. Applications from persons of other nationality will be considered, if they are resident and/or studying in Cyprus. All classes will be conducted in English.

The programmes will give you the opportunity to learn about the flora, fauna and environmental issues of Cyprus. In addition, you will also have the chance to try adventurous activities, such as rock-climbing and canoeing.

A condition of participation will be willingness to help organise and to participate in environmental excursions in both communities of Cyprus, in cooperation with educators from the other community, during the autumn period after the summer programme.

Participants will be staying in specially restored village houses/apartments within walking distance of each other and will take most of their meals in a traditional tavern within the village (except packed lunches or meals in other taverns more convenient to the activity sites).

This camp has been organised as part of UNDP's initiative, Action for Cooperation and Trust.  As a result, only C£15 per person is payable by the participants.
